After deciding last week that I prefer Private Practice to Grey's Anatomy... the tides have changed. Grey's continues to hopefully get back on season 1-2 track (outside of MerDer storylines) and this week's Private Practice was nothing to write home about.
To me, Kate Walsh has lost a lot of her charisma as Addison that she had while working at Seattle Grace. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the fact that the people at Seattle Grace were more likable or what effect that has had on her character, but I feel little to no connection with the majority of people at their private practice. The dichotomy of Violet is perhaps the most I'm back and forth with. The psychiatrist is hands down the most unstable person in the entire place? That's fitting. The only characters I continue to feel invested in at all are Cooper, Pete, and Sam. The women are a bit overdone for me.
As for Grey's... this week's episode (for the most part) is the one I've enjoyed most of all this fourth season. My heart broke for both Callie and the Chief's niece this week. I like the fact that the story makes it seem as though Callie and George might work it out and that Alex and Izzie may be heading back together. The Jane Doe/Ava/Rebecca storyline has more than run its course... and we all know what I've thought of George/Izzie since day one. The one part of this week's episode that I had a major problem with was when Meredith and Norman told a health patient that she was dying. There was nothing humorous about it to me and it almost seemed to be an attempt at comic relief and that is simply not funny.
As mentioned for other shows... I think Sara Ramirez better get award show consideration based on what I've seen so far this weekend. She's the #1 reason I continue to watch.

I'm enjoying PrP more than Greys. I actually like Naomi, am so-so on Violet & like all the other characters. Addison is still my first love & I disagree with the charisma factor. Addison is still adjusting to a new life but she is getting there. I'd rather watch Kate Walsh given more screentime each week on PrP, than the 30sec she was given on Greys each week. And no PrP character is as whiny & awful as Meredith !!
Other than Sara Ramirez as Callie, Greys I find is sinking fast. I don't think it has recovered at all. Every character has slept with virtually every other character, & the storylines are becoming drawn-out & repetitive. It's in serious need of fresh blood - & not by way of yet more addistions to the bloated cast.
To each their own... definitely agree that Meredith is extremely whiny, but I think they're taking Addison in that direction too. Something about her voice (outside of the show as well... especially that Cadillac commercial) absolutely grates on my nerves. I much preferred Merrin Dungey as Naomi which is probably why I'm having a hard time getting behind the character now.
